Our mission
Exotic Avian Sanctuary of Tennessee provides a safe haven and optimal care for parrots through adoption or lifetime care. We are dedicated to the safety, care, health and quality of life of captive parrots whose guardians are no longer able to care for them. We at EAST have ensured that our sanctuary will operate sustainably into perpetuity. Our flock will never need to worry about leaving their home or the caregivers they have come to love and depend upon. And you have the assurance that your legacy through gifts to our sanctuary will continue to champion the plight of parrots through rescue and conservation efforts.

Why parrot rescues and sanctuaries are needed
Millions of parrots are produced by the pet trade each year, and the population of captive birds continues to grow. With life spans of up to 80 years, these highly intelligent and social birds have a built-in homeless factor which means most parrots will outlive their original guardian. None can be released to the wild because they do not have the skills to survive. Parrots are difficult to care for, and because they are flock animals, they require a lot of time and attention. Too many end up abused, neglected or unwanted. Add these factors to the length of time a parrot can live, and you have the answer to “Why do parrots need rescuing?”
